If you are a fan of Malaysian cuisine and Asian street food then you’ll be excited to hear that 5 Foot Way are hosting a Malaysian themed Christmas Supperclub this December, at Spike Island Café in Bristol.
5 Foot Way is run by husband and wife duo Michelle and Steve. Michelle grew up in Malaysia and wanted to create events that showcase the flavours of her childhood alongside a similar ambience and setting that someone would experience when eating this type of cooking. After running successful pop-up markets and street food events in London, the couple decided to concentrate on their love for all things food, so quit their jobs and moved to Bristol to concentrate on 5 Foot Way full time. The focus will still be on running pop-ups and markets, however 5 Foot Way will also cater for private parties and events, as well as launching a lunchbox delivery service.
For their first Malaysian theme Christmas supperclub, Michelle and Steve have put together a menu full of festive street food inspired dishes, such as venison marinaded in Malaysian spices, crispy mackerel with turmeric and vegetables seasoned with Asian herbs. There is also a full vegetarian menu to choose from, with dishes such as aubergine fritters, spiced coconut floss and chillies stuffed with tofu and coconut. There will be entertainment provided at the event, with Bristol-based soprano Claire Delaney singing, local pianist Lauren Davies playing and Bristol female vocal group Soprannome performing. The evening promises to be full of delicious food, a relaxed atmosphere and plenty of fun.
5 Foot Way’s supperclub is taking place on Saturday 2nd December and tickets are £45pp. For more information, the menu and how to book, take a look at their events page here.
